    Resumen:
Background: The aim of this study were, in a first stage, to evaluate and detect neuromuscular deficiencies in mobility, stability, symmetry and jumping/landing technique in static and dynamic situations among youth basketball players; and in a second stage, to design, apply and analyze the efficacy of a specific and individualized therapeutic exercise program based on the approach to the detected neuromuscular deficits to reduce the susceptibility to injury of these players. Methods: Cross-sectional study and a randomized single-blind cluster-controlled clinical trial (control and intervention group). Specific tests and trials were conducted to evaluate members of teams from several clubs in the male and female under-12 (U12) to under-17 (U17) categories. The evaluations consisted of static physical measurements and dynamic measurements. In the second stage, the intervention lasted 24 weeks (8 periods of 3 weeks, 3 sessions/ week, 12-15 minutes duration). Each session was composed of 8 exercises (2 to 3 series of between 6 and 12 repetitions with a rest at the end of each series of less than 60 seconds). Results: 575 players were included the cross-sectional study. More than 90% of participants had neuromuscular deficits in stability and jumping/landing technique, and 86% present dynamic lower extremity valgus. In the randomized controlled clinical trial 212 participants were included (112 intervention group and 110 in the control group).
