Resumen:
This thesis presents an analysis of representations of bodies, identities, and sexualities in picture books aimed at the 0-16 age group and published in Catalonia and Spain since 2010. Starting from a transfeminist positioning and within the field of gender studies, picture book studies, and studies on critical education and queer pedagogy, we analysed a corpus of 85 books that we collected in a database. The initial questions were: -What representations of bodies, genders and sexualities are found in picture books? -How are categories such as gender binarism and heteronormativity approached? -What is their influence in the construction of people's gender identity? In addition to this, there are three points that we consider basics for this analysis: 1. what are the taboos that continue to be present in picture books about bodies, identity and sexuality; what is the relationship of these books to the binary and heteronormative vision inherent in the patriarchal system; 2. what parameters can be identified when making a selection of quality picture books; 3. what is the relationship between picture books and the practices of innovative, critical and queer education. The goals we have identified, with the ambition of presenting a compendium, as comprehensive as possible, of books on these issues, are twofold: 1. To reflect from a gendered and transfeminist perspective on what models are offered to the people they read and whether they are representations that overcome gender binarism and heteronormativity. 2. Create a data base that can be transformed into a tool in the educational sphere and a support resource for schools, families, and educational communities.
