Resumen:
This work presents a complete study about the evolution of urban planning and architecture in the protohistoric period at the river Ebro’s lower course. The research has based on a specific case, the archaeological site of L'Assut (Tivenys, Baix Ebre), a settlement with an extended chronology of occupation and several reforms in the urban planning and construction field, which allows to make a territorial-scale comparison. At the same time, it has been performed a a work to contextualize the archaeological material recovered during 23 years of uninterrupted campaigns. Accordingly, we followed a structural and chronological logic that has made it possible to more clearly define the social reading of the settlement’s architecture and urban planning. It is, therefore, an essential analysis in order to improve the knowledge of protohistoric societies and understanding the historical processes in which they are inserted, from the first establisments troughout the 7th century BC to the absolute integration of the territory in the Roman political, social and economic structure (1st century BC).
