    Resumen:
Nater contamination is a relevant issue to be addressed to ensure human and environmental health, making it crucial o assess its impact to estímate risks and implement remediation measures. Chromatographic techniques combined Nith mass spectrometry are powerful methods for determining organic contaminants. However, dueto the complexity Jf environmental water samples and the low levels at which the contaminants are present, sample preparation echniques are needed to enhance selectivity and sensitivity of the analytical methods. Therefore, developing new naterials to improve sample preparation procedures is an importan! research line in analytical chemistry. íhis Doctoral Thesis focuses on developing mixed-mode ion-exchange sorbents for solid phase-extraction (SPE) of Jrganic contaminants from environmental water samples. These sorbents can perform reversed-phase and on-exchange interactions, allowing them to retain a broad range of compounds. The evaluated sorbents are divided nto two types: silica-based and polymer-based.
