    Resumen:
The micromycetes constitute a fundamental component on terrestrial ecosystems, playing a key role in the decomposition of organic matter. However, the knowledge of fungi from temperate areas such as the Iberian-Balearic, is in a very preliminary stage. The main objective of this thesis has been to contribute to the better understanding of the hyphomycetes from the Iberian Peninsula, mainly dematiaceous hyphomycetes from plant debris since, according to the revised data, are the less known in our territory. During 11 seasons, we collected a total of 570 plant debris samples and 40 to soil, mostly from natural or national parks along the Iberian Peninsula. We identified a total of 570 hyphomycetes, 172 of them corresponding to 82 genera of dematiaceous hyphomycetes that represents new records for the mycologycal catalog from Península Ibérica. We have also described and published 7 new species in specialized journals. All the anamorphic fungi described in the present thesis will be included in a monograph entitled 'Dematiaceous hyphomycetes from plant debris from the Iberian Peninsula' which actually is underconstruction.
