    Abstract:
Parkinson's disease, marked by the loss of dopaminergic neurons, is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder. Given the lack of curative treatments, compounds with therapeutic potential are being studied in biomedical models such as Drosophila melanogaster mutant in DJ-1β. In this study, the effects of phentolamine and scopoletin were analyzed. The first affects glucose metabolism, while the second shows antioxidant properties, reduces oxidative stress and improves mitochondrial function. Despite the promising results, additional studies are needed to confirm the mechanisms of action and validate their efficacy in other models.
