Volatility and risk in the electric vehicle industry: capex optimization through alternative predictive models for electric vehicles

    Abstract:
This study analyzes the strategic mismatch within the European electric vehicle industry, characterized by substantial capital investment and insufficient demand. It concludes that this situation stems not from poor management, but from a European regulatory framework that drives investments aimed at meeting climate targets before the market is ready. Furthermore, macroeconomic factors—such as rising interest rates, declining disposable income, and the instability of public subsidies—have dampened sales and led to excess production capacity. As a solution, the study proposes using artificial intelligence models, particularly Random Forest, to improve forecasting and optimize resource allocation.
