Determination of residual monomer in PVOH by HS-GC.

    Abstract:
    In the present work an analytic method is developed for the determination of vinyl acetate in polyvinyl alcohol by HS-GC. The method is based on a multi-extraction in a headspace vial, using the un-dissolved sample followed by a chromatographic analysis. The optimized conditions have been, mainly, the time and the temperature of the heating in the Headspace Sampler as well as the chromatographic separation. Calibration was performed following the same method of multi-extractions, but using the TVT technique.
