Abstract:
This work aims to know the different benefits offered by the kangaroo method, since many people don’t realize the importance of 'skin-to-skin' contact from the first minute of the newborn's life. Has been carried a bibliographic search of articles published between October 2016 and April 2017 has been carried out on the databases Cuiden Plus, Dialnet, Google Scholar, Medline and IME. Were obtained a total of 152 documents, of which 30 were selected articles, applying the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. The analysis of the results has been divided into 5 categories: according to the author's profession, the type of study, the type of sample, the type of objective and the type of result. The most important benefit is the strengthening of the maternal and child bond and the reduction of stress. Almost all emphasize the effectiveness of the kangaroo method. The most relevant publication years are 2013 and 2014. The role of the nursing professional stands out for it’s importance in teaching the kangaroo method.
