    Abstract:
    Introduction: Palliative care has been evolving and passing through different phases so that today health professionals already see the terminally ill and the primary caregiver as an inseparable binomial, which must be treated together. Objective: To know the importance of nursing care to the family of the terminal patient. Methodology: a bibliographic review was carried out in different databases where the selected articles were published between 2006 and 2017 in full text, and available online in the Catalan, English and Portuguese languages. Conclusion: Nursing must maintain a good communication and attitude with the family, so as to know what the needs and deficiencies that the caregivers present and approach them in a holistic way
