Analytical control of processes in the chemical industry by NIR spectroscopy

    Abstract:
    One reaction of industrial interest is the esterification of dicarboxylic acids with bifunctional alcohols, which give place to unsaturated polyester resins dissolved in styrene. So that, the aim of this project is the application of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) to chemical process control, developing methods that allow the determination of product properties, and in this case, acid value and viscosity. For such objective, partial least squares regression (PLS) has been applied, a chemometrical tool based on multivariate calibration.
