    Design of the reaction system of a phthalic anhydride production plant 1/1 214043 1. ABSTRACT This project studies the design of the reaction system of a phthalic anhydride production plant from the beginning, and starting from a bibliographic study. The main studied equipment is the reactor, the design of which included the development of a model that assures the correct and safe operation of the equipment, and the coding of a simulator in order to optimize the geometry and conditions of operation. The design of all the auxiliary equipment to perform the reaction is also included, as well as all the control system. Also environmental and safety analyses of the reactor have been done, coupled with an economic study in which the viability of the process is discussed.
