INTRAOSSEOUS ACCESS AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO VASCULAR ACCES

  • Identification data

    Identifier:  TFG:1728
    Authors:  Santamaria Beneyto, Antoni
    Abstract:
This bibliographic research has the aim of increasing the knowledge about intraosseous access as an alternative to vascular access. To achieve this purpose, a bibliographic review has been carried out on different databases and 14 articles have been obtained. These articles respond to the initial objectives and questions. The intraosseous access is a technique supported by important institutions such as the European Resuscitation Council, American Heart Association, the Spanish Group of Pediatric and Neonatal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) protocol. This research analyzes the advantages that this vascular access offers, which devices exist today and the most effective ones and will analyze why this technique is so underused. In general, all authors agree on a number of pros of the intraosseous access: insertion time less than one minute and success rates exceeding ninety-five percent.
