Abstract:
The family is the key social unit since it is defined as an union with links and emotions between two or more people who assume the major responsibility of the socialization and transmission of the culture to its members and that additionally, they suppose a support system for all of them. Therefore, a chronic disease in a child supposes a permanent modification of the structure and familiar roles. Objective: To describe the implication and experience of the family in the care of the pediatric chronic patient. Methodology: A bibliographical review is done from different databases: PubMed, Scielo, Dialnet. Google Academic, Scopus and Cinhal. After the collection and analysis of the articles, those that did not fulfilling the criteria of incorporation established have been discarded. In addition, books and official web pages have been accessed with the purpose of completing the necessary information. Results and discussion: The results obtained from the present bibliographical review demonstrate that trough most of the selected studies are elaborated by professionals of nursing, more information is required and therefore, more investigation on this topic. Conclusion: On the one hand, it has been demonstrated that the disease of a child concerns the whole familiar environment and provokes an emotional impact for the change that supposes the diagnosis in his life. On the other hand, there has also been demonstrated that the participation of the parents in the cares of his son has a positive result so much for them as for the child.
