Abstract:
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a pathology of unknown or uncertain etiology, characterized, among a wide variety of other comorbidities, by generalized musculoskeletal pain and chronic course that is incapacitating for those who suffer from it, constituting a vulnerable group in our society. Since no single curative treatment has been determined, it requires a multidisciplinary approach that contemplates and deals with the disparate symptoms that FM presents. The objective of this dissertation project is to carry out a literature review on aerobic exercise and its effectiveness in fibromyalgia, based on articles published between 2009-2018. To this end, a bibliographic review was carried out between November 2017 and February 2018, in which three databases (Pubmed, Scopus and Cinahl) and other sources were consulted through manual search. After this tracking, several articles were obtained, from which finally, after applying the relevant inclusion and exclusion criteria, 13 was selected. When studying the articles compiled for the review, several modalities are contemplated with which to perform aerobic exercise, such as cycling, aquatic exercises, dance, low to moderate intensity walking and Nordic walking (moderate to high intensity)The complete analysis of the same concludes that, the physiotherapy treatment with aerobic exercises is beneficial and effective in the fibromyalgia since, it reduces the pain, the fatigue and the rigidity and in addition it improves: the aerobic capacity, the nocturnal rest, the anxiety, the depression, self-esteem, personal image and autonomy, and therefore, the quality of life of the patient with fibromyalgia.
