Abstract:
Objective: Knowing the Spanish Civil War Infirmary, taking into account its historical, political and health context. Methods: Bibliographical review complements the collected information based on an ethnographic interview with Carme Manyà, who worked in a hospital during the conflict, and to her son, Antoni Cortés, through the qualitative methodology. The documentation with publication dates of more than 5 years is excluded, as long as they are not relevant. The information research has been done in Catalan, Spanish and English using the Boolean operators "AND" and "OR". In addition, nursing experiences during the Civil War were collected in books that have been consulted. Results: The analysis of the different questions emerged to the interviewees, in relation to the social context, the war context, the health context and post-war events are reflected in them. Conclusions: The conflict of the Spanish Civil War caused a large number of casualties from the battlefield, which led to a series of changes in the health system at that time. The nursing tasks, then, became very necessary to the battle front, and for this reason, many people had to be trained, many times in a poor quality, such as our informant case.
