    Abstract:
Background.- Stroke is one of the main health problems worldwide. Dysphagia, which is one of the major morbidities derived from stroke, is a neurological condition that affects the muscles involved in the swallowing process, often underdiagnosed. Here in this medical study we propose the use of Kinesiotape in order to analyse what kind of effects it causes on the suprahioidal musculature. Furthermore, we will also inflict a stimulation at the level of the motoneurons. Objectives.- The main aim of this study is to describe the efficiency of the treatment with Kinesiotape, and which differences does it has with the conventional dysphagia’s treatment, in order to demonstrate its viability. Methods.- Twenty patients with dysphagia derived from a stroke, assessed by Volume-Viscosity Swallow Test (V-VST), were randomly assigned to two groups: KT (conventional treatment + Kinesiotape) and NKT (only conventional treatment). A three-day-a-week treatment during three months consisted of the application of a 5x6cm strip of Kinesiotape with a 50% of tension in the suprahoid region. Due to the descriptive analysist that we got using the Wilcoxon Test and the Mann-Whitney U Test, we were able to perform the comparison between groups.
