    Abstract:
Breast cancer is the most diagnosed malignant tumor in women worldwide, accounting for 16% of all female cancers. This type of neoplasm is the most detected during pregnancy and or during the first year after giving birth. Thus, breast cancer associated with pregnancy has a prevalence of 1 per 3.000 women and an incidence that ranges between 0.2% and 6.9%. Objective: To know the different types of treatments that can be used to treat breast cancer associated with pregnancy, as well as the differences in treatment between pregnant woman versus a non-pregnant woman. Methodology: A literature review of the subject has been made, consulting the following biomedical bases: PubMed, Dialnet, CINHAL, Scielo and Science Direct, including those articles published between 2008 and 2018. The MeSH search strategy used was: “breast cancer”, “pregnancy”, “chemotherapy”, “radiotherapy”, “surgery”, “treatment”, “management”, “breast cancer and pregnancy” and, “management breast cancer and pregnancy”. Results: Radical surgery is indicated in any trimester of pregnancy. In contrast, conservative surgery is only recommended in the third trimester of pregnancy due to the need to use adjuvant radiotherapy after 12 weeks of surgery. Also, the use of chemotherapy is only contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy. In contrast to radiotherapy, since its use in the first trimester is being debated, although in the other trimesters of gestation it is discouraged. Finally, the use of hormonal and biological therapies are considered harmful to the fetus, so their use is contraindicated. Conclusion: The interruption of pregnancy is not currently considered the treatment of choice in these cases and, therefore, the viability of pregnancy with breast cancer is possible.
