    Abstract:
Men with a spinal cord injury face multiple complications that drastically lower their quality of life, notably the way their sexual activity is affected. This can be especially seen in men between 20 and 40 who are in the age group of higher sexual activity. The main objective of this research is to define which are the emotions and feelings experienced by men with a spinal cord injury in relation to their sexual activity. The method through which the study has been developed was phenomenological, because the primary interest is to know how men between the ages of 18 and 55 who have suffered a spinal cord injury live, accept and adapt to their new sexuality. This research has focused on obtaining official documents, scientific evidence articles, narratives and reflections contributed by the three participants, which were obtained by a convenience sample and a semi-structured ethnographic interview. After the analysis of the interviews, it has been recognized that all the informants suffer erectile and ejaculatory dysfunction. This, added to other changes, generates negative emotions and feelings, although thanks to the learning and adaptation process, they obtain pleasure and satisfaction. In relation to sexual practices, they mention as preferences touches, looks, hugs and kisses, and also the connection and the relationship of trust as essential factors to maintain sexual relations. Nursing professionals have the responsibility of reintegrating these individuals to sexual practice. However, it is worth mentioning the notorious lack of sanitary education in relation to sexuality, as well as the intimacy and autonomy of the patient, which harms the individual’s adaptive process.
