The farming: an alternative to the housing problem

Abstract:
Considering the complexity of the housing problem in our society, the description of the current situation is necessary to provide the setting for farming as an instrument of the housing policies in Catalonia. The current article is structured in five sections: The first part is about the conception and the recognition of having an appropriate accommodation. In the second part, some of the social problems concerning to housing are exposed and analysed, as well as the consequences of the economic crisis in this subject and in the most affected collectives by this crisis. In the third part, the different policies of housing in Catalonia are described and evaluated, concentrating in the current social housing policies. The fourth part is focused on the farming, especially in the urban farming; we are going to see which projects have been carried out the last years in Catalonia and its viability as a real alternative. Finally, in the last part we explain the conclusions about the subjects we have dealt with in this article.
