    Abstract:
Introduction: Every year 15 million premature births occur (1 of 10 newborns), 60% of them are produced in underdeveloped countries. In Spain, it amounts to 28,000 prema-tures/year, being the highest number in Europe. The kangaroo care method is a complementary technique to conventional cares that has shown the benefits for the characteristics of the premature, which have a high morbidity and mortality index. The present study aims to collect existing information about such benefits. Methodology: This is a bibliographic review based on descriptive studies about the benefits of the kangaroo care method. Results: 14 articles have been analyzed, published in Cinahl databases, Pubmed, Cuiden and Scopus. 1035 Newborn, 938 mothers and 67 health professionals partici-pated. The origin of most studies takes place in underdeveloped countries (Iraq, India, Brazil, Morocco, Colombia and Iran), although it is also found in Sweden, USA and Norway. These are descriptive studies, cohorts and experimental. Discussion: The kangaroo mother care method is perceived as necessary in preco-cious care because it is economically affordable care that has stabilizing effects on vital signs, levels of stress, immune response and circadian rhythm; In addition, it reduces the pain and improves the psychomotility and tolerance of breastfeeding, affecting the growth of the baby. The role of nursing professionals has a big importance, because they must carry out health education and the necessary support for good adherence and to avoid conflicts with insecurity and the lack of knowledge when handling the ba-by.
