    Abstract:
Newborns, as adults, are often subject to invasive procedures and interventions that can lead to pain. However, false beliefs about the ability of newborns to remember painful stimuli coupled with the inability to express it verbally and the lack of interest of health professionals to assess it. Consequently it has meant that for years there was a lack of analgesic treatment in newborns, for years. This work has been carried with a bibliographic search in PubMed, Scopus, Cinahl and Cuiden databases with the aim of describing non-pharmacological methods of pain control in neonates, in addition to analyzing the studies on these methods and determining which are the most currently used. In conclusion, the non-pharmacological methods of pain control in neonates most used are: oral glucose, skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding, there being others that apart from reducing pain and stress are low cost and easy to apply. Therefore, it is important that health professionals know these methods for their use, thus ensuring adequate and individualized analgesia.
