    Abstract:
This project consists on the development of a chlorine dioxide production plant for the nuclear power plant Vandellòs II. The main purpose of it is to ensure the availability of the safeguard water free of biofilms that may obstruct the use of this water in case of adversity. Nowadays, this chemical is being supplied throughout the companies Biocontrol and Oxicontrol. Due to the huge amount of chlorine dioxide needed the alternative of implementing a chlorine dioxide plant inside the nuclear power plant to cover their own needs is an option to take into account. The project involves the production of chlorine dioxide from two sides, the first one from the reaction of hydrochloric acid with sodium chlorite and the other one from the reaction of the sulfuric acid with sodium chlorate. Finally, the decision of which one is the most suitable option is done.
