Preliminary design of a unit of light naphtha isomerization

    Abstract:
    In the project, 3 alternatives will be studied which can process a 272000 tons/year of light naphtha feed. These 3 alternatives are simulated with Aspen Hysys in order to find the most suitable one. It is considered as a product the isomerised naphtha which presents a 84 or higher octane. Once the most suitable alternative is selected, basic engineering and some aspects of detailed engineering of equipment which is present in the plant as the reactor, the stabilizing column, the DIH column, the molecular sieves, the shell and tube heat exchangers, the reboiler, the air coolers and the pumps will be done. Also, it is present the design and detailed description of the process and it’s control system, the elaboration of (blocks, PFD and P&ID) diagrams, the elaboration of pipe lists, (control and safety) valves and instrumentation, and the elaboration of operation manuals. At last, it is also done the economy, security and environmental impact studies.
