    Abstract:
A petrochemical plant of Tarragona had recent modifications. Although the safety valves have been, the backpressures for the different scenarios have not been checked. The purpose of this work is to calculate the backpressures of the safety valves that are connected to the flare network to check if they open at the correct set pressure. In the original design, the dimensioning scenario was the fire case. Therefore, it was shown that the cumulative cases of electrical power failure, cooling water failure and instrument air failure were not dimensioning. The work includes the redesign of the flare stack and the liquid separator located before it. In addition, the maintenance, operation and safety manuals are carried out; and an environmental and economic study.
