    Abstract:
Introduction: Venous ulcers originate from the presence of deep venous hypertension. His healing process is influenced by multiple factors, including nutrition. Micronutrients have a fundamental role as support in their healing, so having up-to-date information on the subject could help a better approach for patients suffering from this pathology. Objective: To analyze current knowledge about the effect of micronutrients in the healing process of ulcers of venous etiology. Methodology: Integrative bibliographic review that includes scientific publications of databases such as Cochrane, Pubmed and Cuiden. Expanding Google academic and the first 100 entries of Google. Also, an inverse search is made in the bibliography of the selected articles, as well as an advanced search in the originals of the electronic journals referring to chronic wounds. Results and discussion: A total of 21 articles and clinical practice guidelines were selected, which show that there is little literature on the influence of micronutrients in the treatment of venous ulcers and that methodological limitations may lead to bias in your conclusions. Numerous micronutrients are involved in the healing process, participating as cofactors, but there are no clear conclusions about optimal supplementation. Some authors highlight the benefits of mixed oral supplementation with micronutrients whenever there is a lack of these. Conclusion: Both vitamins and minerals have a therapeutic function in the treatment of venous ulcers, but no new conclusions have been reached on the subject treated due to inconsistencies between the different studies analyzed.
