Abstract:
The aim of the work is to analyze the evolution of the daily mobility required by reason of work, its behavior patterns, its dimensions and the local characteristics in the historical region of Camp de Tarragona, and the change that it has experienced between the years 2001 and 2011, influencing those sociodemographic characteristics that configure and that can cause changes in mobility patterns. After presenting the territorial context of Camp de Tarragona and the general characteristics of the phenomenon of labor mobility in Catalonia, labor mobility in the study area is analyzed according to branches of economic activity and according to travel time. The data is specified at the municipal level with the elaboration of indicators such as the functional balance index, labor self-sufficiency and the degree of openness of the municipalities. The analysis reveals that mobility for labor reasons has increased in a very considerable way in all branches of economic activity, affecting not only the various regions, but also affecting the main areas of activity and residence, although with different territorial patterns according to the economic sector.
