    Abstract:
In this project covariance is assessed. Covariance is the correlation between two or more variables. For this reason, to study it, concentration of zinc, calcium and magnesium in sea salt and mineral water were analysed by ICP-OES. Then, using the mean and the standard deviation of the data obtained, covariance was calculated by two different methods. The results obtained exhibited that there was correlation between the metals concentration and sea salt or mineral water samples mass. Moreover, sea salt sample results presented correlation between the mass measured and the instrument’s baseline. In the end, it was concluded that covariance is important and it must be considered in error propagation.
