    Abstract:
In this final degree project consists of comparing between two systems, a manual system and an automatic system (Flow Injection Analysis, FIA) for the determination of phenol by a colorimetric method. The comparison will include the validation parameters, those include the linearity, precision and accuracy, reagent and material costs and the time of analysis. Phenol is an aromatic organic compound, that is toxic and corrosive, for that reason the law establishes the maximum concentration of it in potable water and wastewater, so is important to know its concentration. In order to determine the concentration of phenol by a colorimetric method, the phenol reacts with 4-aminoantipyrine in presence of potassium hexacyanoferrate (III) of at pH 10 to form a red complex of antipyrine that absorbs at 510 nm approximately.
