    Abstract:
ABSTRACT IntroductionThe aging of the population has caused an increase in the incidence of chronic ulcers (wounds of venous etiology, diabetic foot ulcers and chronic wounds) and surgical wounds that directly affect the quality of life of people. The introduction of negative pressure therapy has been well received due to the multiple benefits that it produces in improving the quality of life of patients. ObjectiveThe aim of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of negative pressure therapy in the qualityof life of patients in the treatment of chronic ulcers (wounds of venous etiology, diabetic foot ulcers and chronic wounds) and surgical wounds. Methodology This is a systematic review through which the scientific literature related to the effectiveness of negative pressure therapy in the quality of life of patients is analyzed. The information is extracted from scientific databases of health Pubmed, Scopus and Cinahl, scientific magazines and books. ResultsThe results of the work show numerous benefits of the effectiveness of negative pressure therapy as treatment of chronic ulcers and surgical wounds. These include improving the quality of life, reducing the level of pain, improving mental and physical status, promoting a better social life, reducing time and wound healing, and also reducing odor and infections. ConclusionsThe effectiveness of negative pressure therapy in patients as a treatment for chronic ulcers and surgical wounds can be considered a valid treatment. Considering the benefits of therapy, we believe that they should be incorporated as a primary treatment in nursing protocols and guidelines for the care of chronic ulcers and surgical wounds. It is considered that it is necessary to strengthen future research in this field, focusing on comprehensive patient care.
