    ABSTRACT Introduction:Autolytic suicidal behavior encompasses all acts and thoughts related to the purpose of killing oneself. Suicide is the first external cause of death in Spain. There is a deterioration in nursing care in patients at risk of suicide, due to lack of education in this area.Objective:To identify the nursing role in the approach to a patient with suicidal behaviors.Methods:A bibliographic review has been carried out in Pubmed, Biblioteca Virtual en Salud, Scopus, Dialnet plus, Scielo and Cinahl of studies published between 2014 and 2019, using boolean data and keywords, that explore nurse's approach.Results:A total of 13 articles were collected, that met the selection criteria, in order to analyze educational interventions, interviews and other instruments used to evaluate nurses' knowledge ofsuicide approach.Conclusions:Fostering the skills and attitudes of nurses through the diversity of theoretical and practical classes, and conducting a structured interview. It was evident in the reviewed investigations that the role of nursing has a very important role to play in the approach towards patients with suicidal behavior.Keywords:Education, Nursing /Nursing Care/ Suicide/Surveys and Questionnaires/ Interview
