Suicidal behavior and ideation in patienties with eatings disorders, a bibliographic review.

    Gema Espuelas BlancoUniversidad Rovira i VirgiliABSTRACTIntroduction: The eating disorders represent the third most common chronic illness among young women, they also occur in association with other psychiatric disorders, leading to a high risk of suicidal behaviour.Objectives: To know the relationship between suicidal behaviours and ideations and eating disorders.Methodology and rersults: A literature review of scientific articles has been carried out in the different databases Pubmed, Cinahl and Scopus. To narrow this search,different inclusion and exclusion criteria were established and 12 articles were obtained to include in thereview.Conclusions: The conclusions coincide with our objective, noting the existence of a relationship between eating disorders and suicidal behaviour disorders. In addition, suicidal behaviors are associated with a higher level of impulsivity and depression, although there are other factors that also predispose suicidal behavior in patients with eating disorders.Keywords: Suicidal behaviors; Suicidality; Eating disorders.
