Drugs of abuse analyzing with capillary electrophoresis in-line preconcentration strategies

    Abstract:
    ABSTRACT In this work we have focused in the preconcentration and separation of three cathinone compounds (mephedrone, methylefedrine and methylenedioxypyrovalerone), by using in-­‐line SPE-­‐CE. Firstly we have focused in the enantiomeric separation of the analytes and for that we tested different chiral additives in the separation electrolyte, in particular we have evaluated different cyclodextrines (CD) as α-­‐CD, β-­‐CD, γ-­‐CD and the ionic S-­‐β-­‐CD. The best results were obtained using 70 mM sodium dihydrogen phosphate and 30 mM of phosphoric acid containing 10 mM of β-­‐CD. On the other hand, in order to obtain a sensitivity improvement, the in-­‐line SPE coupling with CE using an Oasis HLB sorbent has been evaluated optimizing different parameters which can have an effect on the preconcentration as sample pH, the nature and volume of the elution solvent and the sample loading time.
