Abstract:
According to the WHO, burns constitute a public health problem worldwide. This type of patient has an injury that can penetrate from the skin to muscles and tissues, thus causing different types of pain. Objective: Identify nursing practices in pain in burned patients, to improve their quality of life. Methods: Systematic review carried out in the databases Pubmed, Scopus, Cinahl, web of science and Cuiden, with articles published between January and March 2021, written in Spanish, English and Portuguese. Results and discussion: 11 articles were chosen, the most relevant key ideas and they were divided into 3 topics. The pain assessment scales in the acute phase of burns, the application of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for pain in burned people and their benefits, and evidence-based practices in pain in the burned patient. Conclusion: Pain management in burned patients must be addressed early, by pain assessment scales, for a better pharmacological treatment with opioids combined with ketamine and non-pharmacological treatment. In addition to improve the protocols in burn units given the poor pain management practices. Key words: Burned, burn, nursing, pain, burn units.
