    Abstract:
Emotional dependence is known for being a psychological pattern that makes the person believe that he needs other people to live their lives. Emotional dependent people are afraid to be separated from the ones they depend on. This situation can be found in several kinds of relationships, such as marriages or the one we find between one and his parents. It also becomes difficult for emotional dependants to decide by themselves or not to hide his disagreement with others because they are afraid of rejection. They are uncomfortable with loneliness because they think they can not take care of themselves and they are worried about non-realistic things. They are usually found into toxic relationships involving disproportionate feelings for the other person and excessive fear when they think the relationship can get to an end. As a matter of fact, many of these dependances are linked to an abusive substance use and this study wants to dig into these effects caused by both emotional dependance and substance use on families, relationships, social skills and several ways of living. And what kind of professional interventions are aimed to bidependant relationships? Are substance use and emotional dependance considered to be dual pathologies? And if that is so, are they treated together or as individual issues?
