    Abstract:
    ABSTRACT Objective: Demonstrate the prevention importance of skin pressure sores and provide updates on nursing care tools to perform in clinical practice in intensive care field. Methods: This is a descriptive literature review of articles for the prevention of pressure sores science. Articles qualitative approach and / or quantitative published in Spanish between 2007 and 2014 inclusive, which only made reference to pressure sores that discussed included prevention. No gray literature, publications and seminars and conferences are accepted. No gray literature, publications and seminars and conferences aren’t accepted. The search was conducted in the databases: Cuiden, ENFISPO, Dialnet, CINAHL, ISOC-CSIC, Scielo and IBECS and magazines of Clinical Nursing, Intensive Nursing and Nursing Goals. Data analysis is done by setting three categories; prevention, risk assessment and care. Results: 20 articles were included. Make a good prevention implies that it should increase nursing care quality we provide by implementing a clinical practice based on evidence. The pressure ulcers assessment scales are needed for detection the risk and implement the necessary care for their prevention: postural changes, hygiene and skin hydration, humidity control, proper nutrition, protection areas of pressure and prevention iatrogenic injury. Conclusions: The best treatment to avoid pressure ulcers appearance is make an assess of the individual risk and applying the necessary care.
