    Abstract:
This final year dissertation was aimed at establishing the different characterizations that surround one of the key historical figures of the Conquest of Mexico: La Malinche. And, in turn, at analyzing the process of mystification that extols her as a mother or as a traitor of the Mexican nation. Thus, the dissertation sets out an analytical tour of the character through the different Chronicles, "Cartas de Relación" (letters) and historiographical works that date back from the sixteenth century onwards. The absence of a prominent voice from this character throughout history has brought up possible versions of what happened around her, reaching her upliftment as a myth. Nowadays, thanks to the genre of the New Historical Novel, this character fictionally takes the floor in Fanny del Rio's work The true story of Malinche in order to overturn the myth she's been subjected to for five hundred years and thus showing the human side enshrouding her.
