    Abstract:
Abstract Introduction: The aging of today’s population, the institutionalization of the old people and the importance of getting an insight into the quality of life (QV) in a elderly residence context, due to the impact of moving into a retirement home, has been the key motivation and the encouragement behind this project. The multidimensionality of the QV term, and its objective and subjective nature makes it extremely difficult to analyse, even so, it should be a priority aim in the intervention with elderly people. Main goals: find out the user’s quality of life of the “Residència Assistida Baix Camp” retirement home. Materials and methods: this study has been conducted through a cross-sectional descriptive and analytical method. A representative sample of 23 residents has been analysed. The “CECAVIR” questionnaire has been applied for the quantification and evaluation of the QV. Results: The sample indicates that in all cases but one, the QV exceeds 50%. Therefore, it can be said that the QV in this retirement home is moderately good. Discussion: There are few studies that have implemented the questionnaire in which this investigation is based on. Further studies are still required in order to improve this quantification. Key words: Aged, institutionalization, quality of life, questionnaires.
