Design of an industrial box supply machine

    Abstract:
    This project is about the design and implementation of a machine with a polypropylene industrial box supply system. The main idea is to provide a real solution for a IPTE’s regular customer's request. This machine supplies boxes, which are provided by customers. After that an operator deposits them on a conveyor belt, which makes them run at the other side of the machine. These boxes remain at the same position at the back front of the machine, where another process is performed. Finally, they get out from the other side of the machine in order to be withdrawn by an operator. This machine has five working stages. The first one needs an operator who loads the stacked boxes on a conveyor belt. This conveyor belt is equipped with supports which are designed to ensure the correct position and guidance in order to take them to the second working stage. In the second working stage, boxes are raised by a vertical actuator. As a result of that, during the third working stage, a horizontal actuator takes boxes one by one to the fourth working stage. The fourth one needs two synchronized vertical actuators which direct each box to the working position where the other process is involved. This process is external to the machine, it supplies electronic components within the boxes, and it keeps boxes at the position where the last stage takes place. During the fifth and final working stage the same processes take place, but in this case, to the contrary movement. By this way, movement allows the boxes to take in by an entrance and then leave by a different one totally stacked one by one. This project involves a mechanical part, which is about the physical set of the machine and includes realizing the constructive plans that allow the manufacture and assembly of the machine. Moreover, it includes the necessary calculations and cost evaluation as well. However, electrical, pneumatics and programming aren’t included in this project, because they are developed by their own department.
