    Abstract:
Abstract Objective: To describe the consequences and / or effects of different strategies of clamping cord and milking in term and preterm neonates. Methodology: We performed a literature review, in which the following biomedical databases were consulted: Cuidatge, Pubmed, CINAHL, IBECS and Cochrame library plus. The search focused on the effects and / or complications that occurred in early cord clamping, late cord clamping and milking of the umbilical cord in term infants and / or premature infants. Results: There does not seem to be evidence that justifies early cord clamping in term and preterm neonates. However, increasingly there are studies that argue the benefits of late clamping or milking of the umbilical cord in newborn. Conclusions: These studies seem to recommend the late cord clamping, although this fact isn’t reflected in clinical practice, as there aren’t hospital protocols on how to perform cord clamping.
