Automation of a Mineral Water Bottling Plant for Small and Medium Enterprises

    Abstract:
    The purpose of this project is to automate the water bottling process controlled with an HMI screen. The aim is to design a bottling plant with reduced dimensions and costs in order to be suitable for Small and Medium Enterprises. The process will consist of four main functions: receive the bottles, fill them, place the cap, and remove the bottles from the system. The project will be programmed with the Siemens software TIA Portal V13 and WinCC. The first one will be used for the programming of the PLC functions in Kontaktplan, and the second one will be used for the designing and programming of the screens to control the process with the HMI extension. The progression of the project has started with the realization of the description and the designing of the process that has been created. Afterward, the components/products that would be used in the system have been searched. Subsequently, the GRAFCET schematics and the GEMMA guide have been designed and implemented in the system. Then, the programming of all the states has been done. Finally, the design and programming of the HMI screens used to receive information and to control the automated system have been carried out. All these tasks have been done while the explanatory document corresponding to this Final Degree Project was being written. In addition, the PLCSim simulator has also been configured to be able to test the correct operation of the PLC program and its interaction with the HMI screens.
