Abstract:
This project is called “International Criminal Justice: from Nuremberg to the International Criminal Court”, its main objective is making understand the importance of international criminal law, analyzing and examining the system of International Criminal Justice, addressing a broad definition and the ways in which to thrive. This study also summarizes the serious violations of international humanitarian law and the most important events that took place during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, analyzing various legal mechanisms that were created to suppress international crimes. This analysis concerning the evolution of legal institutions includes special international criminal tribunals and temporary courts, among others, all of which have influenced the way the permanent establishment of the international criminal court in order to prosecute crimes against humanity, genocide and war crimes. Finally, it focuses on the International Criminal Court, its characteristics, its origins, and its jurisdiction and legislation, the Rome Statute.
