    Abstract:
Astrocytes respond to neuroinflammatory factors, such as aging and stress, through reactive astrogliosis, a process in which gene expression is altered. Inulin acts as a prebiotic and can alter social behaviour acting on gut microbiome-brain axis. This current project focused on the impact of stress on the expression of reactive astrocyte-related genes and a diet-related gene, and the potential of inulin to modulate gene expression alterations caused by stress in male aged mice. Results suggested that just in some specific cases gene expression was altered by stress and inulin supplementation. We suggest that aging mask stress effect
