Development and optimization of a CAR-T therapy for acute myeloid leukemia.

    Abstract:
    Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is characterized by the accumulation of cellular precursors. AML has high mortality rates and despite the efforts made, no new treatments have been found. Clinical trials using the CD33 marker have failed due to the expression of this marker in healthy precursors of the myeloid lineage. In this project we evaluated the use of an anti-CD33 CAR-T therapy against AML. To avoid on-target off-tumor effects, we studied the possibility of using a KIR-type receptor, from NK cells, as an inhibitory mechanism.
