    Abstract:
This BSc thesis investigates the limited nucleophilic C-H couplings in directed C-H functionalization reactions using Cp*CoIII catalysts. Analogues of metalacyclic Cp*CoIII complexes were studied to understand the transmetalation and reductive elimination steps involved in Cp*Co-catalyzed C-H methylation reactions. The impact of coupling partners, additives and directing groups were evaluated by conducting reactions under different conditions. Preliminary results suggest a more complex mechanistic scenario and reveal that the directing group influences the reaction rate.
