    Abstract:
The 5-HT7 receptor is a little-known serotonin receptor on which various treatments against schizophrenia act. This work focuses on the characterization of the 5-HT7R receptor through electrophysiology, selectively stimulating and inhibiting it through the agonist AS19 and the antagonist SB269970. The effect of the antipsychotic lurasidone on 5-HT7R was also investigated in healthy mice. Thus, it was observed that the activation of 5-HT7R decreases the average neuronal discharges in the hippocampus and that it is not capable of reversing the effects of lurasidone, probably due to the synergistic effect of the antipsychotic with several receptors in addition to 5-HT7.
