Analysis of the data generated by imaging mass spectrometry for the study of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in animal models

    Abstract:
There is a line of research that studies the role of growth factor 15 (GDF15) in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This TFG, thanks to the spectra provided by MSI of different liver tissues, performs a data analysis to achieve the detection of the lipid families. It is concluded that in the absence of GDF15 there is an accumulation of lipid droplets, therefore this protein has a role in lipid metabolism. On the other hand, the type of accumulated lipids is not of the lysophospholipid family since these are down-regulated in the absence of GDF15.
