    Abstract:
Neonatologists and neurophysiologist agree that there are no electrodes that allow for an adequate recording during long periods of time. As a result, amplitude integrated electroencephalography (aEEG) loses power to diagnose cerebral damage. In this work, a comparative analysis between commercial liquid-gel electrodes and the new aCUP-E was executed in other to evaluate their performance in a clinical trial with 15 neonates. Impedance, as well as signal features, were computed, highlighting the limitations of current electrodes in aEEG and concluding that aCUP-E electrode, which has been specifically designed for newborns, improves the quality of the recordings.
