Abstract:
Unemployment is one of the worst problems that a country can face, as an important social problem with serious implications for citizens who suffers the risk of falling into situations of social exclusion. It means not only people having difficulties for subsisting due to a lack of incomes, but also the fact that businesses have to do without workers, which may cause the lost of human capital and incur dismissal elevated costs. Spain has always been characterized for having one of the most elevated unemployment taxes among the European countries. For this reason, my research work, is focused on knowing the historical evolution and legislative modifications that have been taken place concerning unemployment benefits in our country, specially from the 80 years onwards, as well as analyzing both current benefits in Spain: contributive and especially, assistance. Also, statistical data on the evolution of the number of beneficiaries will be collected in order to know the impact and the application the unemployment benefits is having nowadays. Finally, we try to do a comparative analysis of the assistance of unemployment from different countries around us, such as France, United Kingdom and Germany, in order to know the advantages or disadvantages that they show regarding Spain.
