Abstract:
The final degree project aims to define the problem posed by population aging and the involvement of the D-N OBJECTIVE: To analyze the importance of incorporating the figure of the Dietitian-Nutritionist (D-N) into the integration of the healthcare team in nursing homes (NH). METHODS: By analyzing NH, healthcare services and costs, and diseases related to food and nutrition, providing real economic data from the Generalitat to illustrate the financial impact on the public health system. A literature review was also conducted on the current situation in NH and the role of the D-N both national and internationally, along with experiences and scientific evidence on the improvement of aging through dietary interventions. CONCLUSIONS: The inclusion of the D-N figure is analyzed, and how their functions can improve the health of residents and patients, while simultaneously reducing healthcare costs in the medium and long term.
